My fascination with glass started with a broken leadlight window in our front door of our bungalow. I took a stained glass evening class to learn how to cut glass and build leadlight windows with the intention of eventually repairing that door.
During that evening class I caught the “glass bug” and really came to love and appreciate the vibrant colour, reflective qualities and the technical intricacies of glass as a medium.

Stained glass gave way to fused glass and I never did fix that door. Instead, I learnt to fuse glass in a kiln. From my home based glass studio, I designed and created miniature pieces of glass art where each individual piece of glass was hand cut and several layers of glass were stacked carefully on top of each other and were heated in my kiln at very high temperatures up to 780C, as part of a process of creating original handcrafted kiln fused glass art.
