"We don't stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing"

Just a quick blurb about myself and my craft/art leather and felt art.

Just over a year ago my family and I, with two large puppies in tow, a house lot of furniture and all our craft tools and treasures made the move from Carterton in the North Island for a life changing experience here in Hokitika. Hubby had a new job in Greymonth and I had a 4 bedroom house to fully redo and two large puppies to train up. A year later I have completed the work on the house, puppies are still in training, ( that is never ending ) and I found myself taking on yet another craft, leather work. Leather work has always been on my wish list to learn, as a child I watched my mother for hours doing her leather work and it always fascinated me. My mother gave me all her tools a number of years ago so I had some great tools to start with. I also owned and ran my craft shop for over 6 years. As an avid crafter of all kinds, leather work just seemed to flow as I began to learn, and new ideas just started to grow and my passion for leather has now taken over two rooms in our house.

Normally I would work with felt, but since taking up leather work my poor sewing machines have sat around and are waiting for me to pay them attention when I'm ready to play with them again.

Originally from the small town Eastbourne in Wellington. My mother was a seamstress so I grew up around sewing machines and fabrics. I had the freedom to use and play with all machines and fabrics with no restrictions. I often don’t need patterns or instructions, just something to look at and my brain can piece things together very quickly.
