Hello and welcome to artuhi

The name is based on the creation and unfurling of the fern and also the wonderful spiral shapes harakeke (flax) create when cut and left to dry, as displayed in our logo. Take a look.

Lately I have been creating new forms of the bead from clay and this has been an on going adventure for me. Raku firing has been a lot of fun outdoors with a small kiln fuelled by a 9kg gas bottle, tubs of wood shavings and then scrubbed in buckets of cold water. Lots of smoke everywhere. The results from this process are often unexpected and exciting. Now these adventures with beads need to find new homes to go to and more importantly…to be worn.

Thank you for supporting handmade and local.
