This original contemporary fibre wall art is made out of natural white merino wool fibres, and sheer silk fabric using the Nuno-felting technique.
The handmade Nuno felt was then printed on with natural leaves and plant dyes like rhubarb, pohutukawa & eucalyptus that were foraged in my garden.
This piece of felt art is hand-stitched on a painted MDF board with cotton pearl thread and a frame applied with stained pine wood.
It has a gallery hanging system and cord.

Nuno felting is a fabric felting technique developed by Polly Stirling, a fibre artist from New South Wales, Australia, around 1992. The name "Nuno" is derived from Japanese (布) and means cloth.
The wet felting technique used in Nuno felting bonds loose fibre (usually sheep's wool) into a sheer fabric, such as silk gauze, creating a lightweight felt.
