Horse's fleece - Black romney hogget raw fleece 500g

Horse has a gigantic head and a face like a horse. Despite this, he's beautiful. He's black/white spotted but mostly black, with a few grey streaks through his coat (he's in front in the picture). He was shorn early as a hogget which means the staple is a bit shorter than the usual hogget fleece (8cm average) and does not have a lamb curl on the tip. This makes for a stronger fibre and minimises tip breakage when carding.

Horse's wool is quite dense and we think it would be good for socks, hats, cardigans, and other woollens. We would recommend long draw spinning due to the length of the staple, but could be spun either way. Estimated yield is 72%.

Horse's fleece is available in lots of 500g and there is only one left. If you require we can remove white patches so you only receive black or very dark wool - just let us know when purchasing.
