Miniature NZ vintage sixpence earrings - fused glass

These earrings are a silver replica of a genuine NZ sixpence coin minted in1964 and taken out of circulation in 1965 when the decimal system was introduced to NZ. The original coin is 18mm round with an huia bird on it. The coins I have cast are smaller and 15mm in size. These copper coin earrings have been hand cast from glass and then fired to around 700C in my kiln. After firing the coins are then placed inside a round silver plate bezel setting.

Each coin is individually made, so your earrings willl be truly one of a kind. Due to it's handmade nature, your jewellery may have small imperfections and irregularities. This is perfectly normal and should in no way affect the function or life of your item.
