Each piece of pottery has been lovingly created by a part-time potter, full time pottery lover, in a community studio.
This piece was wheel thrown, trimmed, bisque fired, glazed, and glaze fired, before its base was sanded smooth. This is a slow process.
From the initial wedge of a ball of clay to the finished vessel, hours, days, weeks will have passed. Each stage requires knowledge and skill of the various elements involved: about the clay itself, hours upon hours of practice to shape the clay via the wheel or hand building; the intricacies of glazing, matching glaze to clay, testing glaze combinations to find beautiful interactions, learning glazing techniques to make the glazes sing.
All of this creativity, care, skill, knowledge, art, and science culminated in the beautiful piece you see for sale here!
