Kōwhai "Dragon's Gold": unique fibre art
Vivid golden Kōwhai Dragon's Gold (Sophora molloyii) flowers and leaves on an intense blue background. Hand-stitched mainly in tent stitch, with some long and daisy stitches. It was created for the Kapiti Arts and Crafts annual awards challenge with the theme "NZ Flora and Fauna".
Main colours: yellow, green, blue
Method: Hand stitching on tapestry canvas
Fibres: Merino+Acrillico blend, tapestry cotton
Canvas: medium tapestry canvas
Frame: plain white, with wide white mat board
