Puriri:

This tree is one of the few natives with large colourful flowers and berries; an important source of food for native birds. The Maori traditionally used the strong timber to make tools and weapons; infusions from boiled leaves were used to heal ailments.

Totara:

Described as one of New Zealand’s forest giants, the trunk of a Totara can reach up to 4 meters wide. Maori favoured the straight grain, and relatively lightweight, timber to carve waka (canoes).

Kawakawa:

The Kawakawa is a relatively small plant. Its heart shaped leaves are often covered in small holes from the Kawakawa looper moth. A traditionally medicinal plant, the Maori would use its leaves and roots to heal bruises and relieve pain.

Dimensions: Each leaf ranges from 30-35cm tall.
