Upcycled Plastic Basket – Blue & Silver

This basket is handwoven in New Zealand from strips of upcycled plastic from powdered milk packaging. The distinct pattern is achieved by folding some of the strips with the silver lining out and some with the package label out, giving a hint of what the basket is made of.

Great as a treasure basket, toy basket, Easter egg basket, or a gift for a zero-waste friend. It would make a great conversation-starter about the importance of reducing our reliance on single-use plastic packaging and encouraging people to think more creatively about the items they buy and how these can be reused and repurposed in creative ways.

Landfill waste and plastic pollution are massive issues worldwide and we all have a responsibility to make choices that reduce our waste and preserve our beautiful planet. I am actively making changes to my purchasing habits to refuse and reduce my soft plastic waste as much as possible. But for the soft plastic that still finds its way into my house, I am determined to repurpose as much of it as possible.
