Kawakawa is a treasure known as 'the pharmacy of the forest' for all its amazing healing abilities. Great for the skin. Our kawakawa soap is scented with therapeutic-grade tea tree oil and peppermint essential oil for a fresh uplifting fragrance and anti-bacterial qualities.
The kawakawa plant is picked after karakia and Rongoa Maori practices. I then infuse it in Sweet Almond Oil for six weeks in a process called maceration. This allows the oils to draw out the medicinal constituents of the plant before I add it to my soap.
One of the many benefits to handmade soap is that it retains the glycerin which is skin nourishing and moisturising. Glycerin is often removed from commercial soaps as it is valuable in cosmetics. Our soaps retain the glycerin, we do not on-sell it to cosmetic suppliers. We recognise the value and want our clients to experience a high-quality bar of handcrafted soap.
Our soaps are Vegan and suitable for most skin types. Each bar is hand-cut so there will be a slight variance in size. Handmade in Kerikeri
