Big Bunny's Nell's Climbing Bean (Climbing)

I know not who Nell is or was, but apparently these are her beans! Given to me by a Lyttelton gardener, these beans are sturdy and reliable, and produce some of the most stunning-looking pods I’ve ever seen - large and leathery with deep red and green stripes. They’re a great shellout and drying bean.

A climber, it’s great for small gardens and looks stunning when the substantial pods are ripe. The beans themselves can be eaten fresh as shellouts or dried for nourishing winter meals.

Plant in spring when the soil is warming and all risk of frosts has passed.
