Kokako

NZ $75.00
Of all New Zealand forest birds, the kōkako is considered to have the most beautiful song. Bushmen called it the ‘true bellbird’ or ‘organ-bird’. Kōkako were once abundant, but today North Island kōkako remain in just a handful of places – mainly in the northern Urewera, Bay of Plenty, and the King Country. A few also survive in Northland’s kauri forests. The species is now endangered. In the late 1980s, it was estimated that 350 pairs remained. Thanks to conservation efforts, by 2006 there were around 1,400 birds, including 640 breeding pairs.

Original collage with a retro twist hand made from various decorative papers applied with water-based non-toxic glue onto plywood. This is a limited edition of 50, although they are all unique in paper selection and wood grain. Artist's initials (that's me!) and edition number written on back of collage.
Enjoy as a one-off piece or combine with other collages to create a set of 2-3 or more to make a fun and colourful collection on any wall - lounge, child's room, kitchen…
The plywood (9mm 5-ply) is made from sustainable A-grade pine grown here in New Zealand which is carefully selected, cut to size and lovingly sanded to a beautiful smooth finish. The completed collages are hand coated with a protective water-based non-toxic satin finish.
Size = 230 x 230mm (23cm). They come ready to hang and are wrapped with tissue paper, tied with a bright bow, accompanied by a Native Creative stamped and signed card and snugly fitted into a cardboard box.
**Please allow up to 1 week for me to create this special collage just for you**
Note: You'll see in the image showing the back of the collage that the handwriting says "Kereru" but that's just an example I'm using to show what the back looks like. They will of course all be named according to the image.
